NEW YORK Mcgarrybowen has landed creative duties on the consolidated account of JPMorgan Chase following the company's merger with BankOne, sources said. Billings are estimated at more than $300 million, the bulk of which will be spent on ads for Chase credit cards, according to sources.
Mcgarrybowen, a New York-based independent, bested three other contenders to land the business: Omnicom Group's BBDO in New York, which teamed with sister shop Interbrand; Interpublic Group's Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston and New York, which partnered with sibling FutureBrand; and another New York independent, Gardner Nelson & Partners, the incumbent on BankOne, sources said.
The winning agency and New York-based client could not immediately be reached.
Chase's incumbent agencies, Foote Cone & Belding in New York and The Martin Agency in Richmond, Va., both units of IPG, did not participate in the review.
