McDonald's Comes to FarmVille

McDonald’s is moving in to FarmVille, the popular Facebook social game, at least for 24 hours.

Today (Oct. 7) the fast food-giant will have its own farm in FarmVille, offering players the chance to interact and get virtual prizes. The game is accessible via the McDonald’s Facebook page and runs from 12:01 a.m. EST to 11:59 p.m. EST.

The program, led by appssavvy in partnership with the Chicago office of OMD, includes the McDonald’s Farm, where players can grow tomato and mustard seed crops. Players are rewarded with a FarmVille McCafe. Consumable, a virtual good that makes game play easier by letting users move around their farms at twice the speed. Players also get a McDonald’s Hot Air Balloon with which they can decorate their virtual farms.

This isn’t the first time Zynga has claimed a large tie-in partner. In May, the games developer inked a deal with 7-Eleven to promote virtual gift products for Zynga’s FarmVille, Mafia Wars and YoVille games.
