Michael Carey, svp, director of Arnold Brand Experience at Arnold Worldwide, is joining McCann West as svp, director of marketing. In this new position, Carey, will oversee growth strategy and marketing at the Interpublic Group agency’s San Francisco and Los Angeles offices.
Carey, who begins April 4 and will be based in San Francisco alongside the agency’s top North American execs, reports to Bob Ellis, general manager, McCann S.F. and Cathy Saidiner, president, McCann L.A.
At Havas’s Arnold unit, Carey was responsible for the agency’s integrated offerings for clients like McDonald’s, Carnival Cruises, Volvo, Ocean Spray, New Balance and Progressive Insurance. He also served as an executive member of the Arnold general agency pitch team.
Over the past year, McCann has bolstered its ranks of marketing and business development executives. In January, Lotta Malm Hallqvist was named chief growth officer for McCann Erickson. Her appointment follows the hiring of Mitch Caplan as evp, chief growth officer for McCann Erickson North America, and Barbara Yolles as evp, chief marketing officer, McCann Midwest in the first half of last year.
