Michael McLaren, the CEO and chairman of McCann Worldgroup Japan, is rejoining the company’s New York operations in the new role of president, MRM East and chief client solutions director.

In September, McCann said it had named Yasuyuki Katagi president, CEO of McCann Worldgroup Japan. At the time of that announcement, McCann said McLaren would assume the role of chairman and work alongside the new CEO. McLaren, the former president of McCann Erickson U.S. and worldwide director of global accounts, had been named to the Japan job in August 2009 by John Dooner, the former CEO of McCann Worldgroup who was succeeded by Nick Brien in April 2010.
