If you’re in a cohort that’s been dubbed “discount-store moms,” it stands to reason that you’re economizing. But that doesn’t mean you care to feel like you’re doing nothing but hunkering down and scrimping.

Yankelovich polling looked at mothers who have kids under age 18 and household income under $50,000, and who shop at discount stores at least once a week. The research firm said such “discount-store moms” constitute 22 percent of all mothers in the U.S.
