Sarah Finnie Cabot has joined KSV in Burlington, Vt., as president of its new media unit, which has been renamed KSV Interactive after a year as Ignition Interactive.
Cabot had previously served as programming director of iVillage.com, an online service targeting women aged 25-49. Prior to that, she spent 15 years as the editorial promotion director of The Atlantic Monthly in Boston.
A Vermont resident who had commuted to iVillage's New York office, Cabot left that job to spend more time with her family. She consulted to KSV for a few weeks before joining the agency, she said.
Cabot was added as "a rainmaker" who will lead new business efforts and use her New York contacts to help the five-person interactive operation win clients of national scope, said agency official Yoram Samets.
"There's no reason we can't work for companies based in New York, California, Chicago or even Mexico," she said. "Online [commerce] does not depend on face time."
Cabot takes over the president's mantle from Dave DeSmet, who stays with the firm as senior interactive producer, responsible for creative development.
DeSmet joined KSV in July when it acquired XL Interactive, his online marketing firm. XL's name was changed to Ignition shortly after the acquisition.
KSV Interactive's client list includes the Vermont Department of Economic Development and Banknorth Group, among others.
