DETROIT--Arthur Kesteloot has joined N.W. Ayer & Partners here as a senior vice president in

charge of the General Motors corporate account.

Formerly senior vice president and director of marketing communications at W.B. Doner & Co., Southfield, Kesteloot assumes the No. 2 post at the Ayer office, where the $30 million GM account is the sole business.

'We needed someone to come in who has the kind of experience Arthur has,' said Dannielle Colliver, the office's president. 'His background is fairly extensive. Arthur really has been in all aspects of the business.'

'In our operation here we truly do look for people who are broad based because we are very hands on and we get into a lot of different areas,' Colliver said. 'We don't have (the traditional) hierarchy structure here. Everybody does everything.'

Kesteloot also was a media director at Young & Rubicam and an account director at J. Walter Thompson, both in Detroit. He also served as ad manager of Chrysler Corp.'s Dodge division and Chrysler/Plymouth division, as well as Dodge merchandising manager.

As second in command, he will be in charge of all office activities and back Colliver on administrative and operational tasks.

'We have focused on the GM business,' Colliver said. 'We would be open for new business, but because of the demands of General Motors we have focused our efforts and energy on General Motors. Our business with GM has been growing and we have needed our resources to do that job well.'
