Newspapers may be bleeding readers, but those still reading are engaged with the paper more than any other medium. At least that’s what Nielsen Claritas found out after conducting the first-ever cross-media engagement study for Philadelphia Media Holdings, owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer and The Philadelphia Daily News.

Based on interviews with 750 people between July 29 and Aug. 13, the study used eight criteria to come up with an engagement index for newspapers, television, Internet and radio.
