Europeans see Americans as “keen consumers” (62 percent), “manipulative” (55 percent), “bold/daring” (48 percent), “selfish” (47 percent) and “aggressive” (45 percent), according to a British Council/GlobeScan/Program on International Policy Attitudes poll. Americans view Europeans as “keen consumers” (39 percent), “respectful” (36 percent), “sensible” (35 percent), “collaborative” (35 percent) and “snobbish” (34 percent).

The same survey found 91 percent of U.S. respondents saying they favor closer relations with Europe. European respondents were less likely to reciprocate, with 62 percent favoring closer relations with the U.S.
