Boston-based Hill, Holliday has appointed Dirk Herbert as the agency’s chief strategy officer. He will report to shop president Karen Kaplan. Herbert joins from Hill’s IPG sibling McCann Erickson in San Francisco, where he served as the head of strategy and planning on Microsoft’s portfolio of global IT campaigns and HP’s consumer PC business. Prior to joining McCann, he co-led the strategy practice on the global IBM account at Ogilvy & Mather. On the client side, he has held senior-level strategy roles at companies like Apple and Disney.
