Americans may be wary of nuclear power. But when presented with options for combating global warming, they would rather see reactors sprout up like irradiated mushrooms than pay higher gasoline taxes or airline fares.

In an Economist/YouGov/Polimetrix survey, Americans were asked how they feel about some possible measures to reduce global warming. Just 14 percent said they’d favor higher taxes on gasoline. Twenty percent said they’d support raising airline fares.
