GSK Shifts Media Biz in Europe

GlaxoSmithKline’s consumer healthcare division has concluded a media review in a half-dozen European markets including the U.K., where WPP’s MediaCom retained its planning and buying assignment, the client confirmed.

At the same time, however, GSK shifted media duties in five other markets from MediaCom to Publicis’ Starcom MediaVest Group. Those markets were identified by the client as Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.

Total spending in the markets reviewed was close to $200 million, according to sources.
