NEW YORK Noel Cottrell has joined WPP Group’s Grey as executive creative director. He will work on the E*Trade account, taking over day-to-day oversight from Tor Myhren, ecd, CCO of Grey in New York.

This marks the first major appointment by Myhren since his arrival at Grey last fall.

“Noel has done great work on great, global brands,” Myhren said in a statement. “He’s founded his own agencies. He’s run agencies all over the world. He will be a great asset to E*Trade and Grey.”

Cottrell founded and owned two agencies in his native South Africa, including Joe Public Take-Away Advertising, which he sold to Interpublic Group in 2001, and more recently FoxP2.
