WASHINGTON, D.C. The Federal Trade Commission this week will begin enforcing the national do-not-call list following a Tuesday federal appeals court decision that the registry does not violate the free speech rights of telemarketers.

The more than 50 million Americans who signed up for the list by Aug. 31 and are still receiving unwanted telemarketing calls they think are illegal can register complaints starting Oct. 11 at 6 p.m., said FTC Chairman Timothy Muris. “I leave it to you to decide whether it’s a coincidence that the complaint process opens at the dinner hour,” Muris said.
