Former C/D Exec Bob Dion Dies at 78

Bob Dion, a former art director and creative director at Chiat/Day, died last month of pulmonary fibrosis in Palm Springs, Calif. He was 78.

Dion worked in both the Los Angeles and New York offices of the agency, a precursor of TBWA\Chiat\Day. He joined the shop in 1976 and spent four years in the L.A. office, working alongside creative chief Lee Clow.

In a statement, Clow, now chief creative officer at Omnicom Group’s TBWA\Worldwide, described Dion as “one of the more nurturing and helpful guys in the business.”

Another former colleague, ex-C/D creative director Yvonne Smith, added that Dion was “as talented as he was generous and gracious.
