NEW YORK Art & Copy, a documentary film featuring the ad world's most influential copywriters and art directors, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last week.

Directed by Doug Pray (Surfwise, Hype!), the film, funded by The One Club, shares the personal journeys of luminaries such as Lee Clow, Dan Wieden, Phyllis K. Robinson, Hal Riney, Cliff Freeman and George Lois, among others.

"As I became acquainted with the American iconoclasts profiled in this film and had the opportunity to work with their statements, ideas and artistry, I began to realize this documentary is possibly more revolutionary than any of my previous projects," said Pray in a statement.

The film, one of 15 in the documentary competition chosen from 1,623 submissions, was written by Timothy J. Sexton from an original concept by Gregory Beauchamp and Kirk Souder.

"Art & Copy provides a window into the creative process and the individuals who have changed our lives in ways we may not realize," said Mary Warlick, CEO of The One Club in New York. "The movie looks at advertising not as products flying off the shelf but as the work of a few American heroes who feel passionately about their craft, ideas, and the ability of ideas to change how people feel."
