BOSTON ESPN’s coverage last Saturday of the first day of the National Football League Draft was watched by an average 3.8 million households, producing a 4.3 rating, the network’s most-watched and highest-rated draft telecast, according to Nielsen Media Research.

The previous record rating was a 4.2 in 1993. The previous record for households was last year when 3.6 million homes tuned in.

The Saturday draft coverage was also the month’s highest-rated cable program among men 18-34, men 18-49 and men 25-54.
