CHICAGO United Technologies Corp. is contacting agencies about its $5-10 million corporate advertising account, currently at Omnicom Group's Doremus, according to the consultant handling the review.
Michael Keeshan of Magikbox in Greenwich, Conn., confirmed his firm was overseeing the process, but would offer no other comment. The Hartford, Conn., company manufactures Sikorsky helicopters, Carrier air conditioners and Otis Elevators. Doremus in New York is expected to defend.
The changes were prompted by the April arrival of a new CMO, Nancy Litner, sources said.
"We have done great work for United Technologies, which, by their own metrics has performed extraordinarily in the marketplace," said Howard Sherman, managing director of Doremus. ''We will stand by our work and the exceptional team of people responsible for it."
The shop's initial print work, which broke in September 2003, used the tagline, "This is momentum," The ads juxtaposed black-and-white images (such as skyscrapers) with colorful bands of blue that represented various client brands. The company also has produced television spots that have run on Sunday morning network programming.
The company spent $6 million on its corporate advertising last year, according to Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
