Dave Clemans, most recently executive creative director and managing partner at Taxi New York, has been named ecd at Colangelo. The position is new at the Omnicom shop, which has been focused on promotions and shopper marketing but now wants to expand its communications efforts.
“This agency reaches out to consumers through so many touchpoints and it has a long list of clients that have been growing and providing new opportunities,” said Clemans. “In a fractionalized media world, brands realize they need a lot of disciplines so we’re trying to figure out how to make this work for them.”
The Darien-based agency, founded by Rob Colangelo, works for marketers like Diageo North America, Church & Dwight, NFL, Davidoff of Geneva and Filippo Berio. Colangelo also has offices in New York and Los Angeles.
Clemans left Taxi last October. He joined the agency in July 2011, replacing the office’s previous ecd, Ron Smrczek, who moved to the WPP shop's Amsterdam office. Prior to joining Taxi, Clemans was ecd at CHI & Partners and cd at Crispin Porter + Bogusky, where he worked on Burger King Germany, Holland and Poland, as well as Volkswagen. During an earlier stint at CP+B, he handled the agency’s anti-tobacco work.
