With a little over a week to go before its free trial period ends, The Daily is still trying to work out the bugs.
 
News Corp.’s much-vaunted tablet newspaper released its fourth update this week with a focus on improved stability and performance.
 
Complaints in the App Store about crashes have diminished, but customer reviews of the latest version are still griping that they can’t retrieve back issues and that the app doesn’t save their place when they close and reopen it.
 
“For $0.99 a week, the content is OK,” posted one reviewer named Shadrack33. “The App is still lacking in a lot of ways. No way to view previous issues! This is my biggest gripe!”

The original two-week free trial scheduled to end Feb. 16 was extended to March 21 following widespread complaints about crashes. After that, it will cost 99 cents per week and $40 per year.
 
Meantime, the glitches notwithstanding, The Daily is hinting at expanding outside the U.S., Canada and Australia. “We hope to land in more countries soon, and we should have more news about that in the future,” The Daily posted on its blog.
