ATLANTA Debby Ruth has been named vice president of marketing for Cox Enterprises here, replacing John Williams, who retired in April after 25 years with the company.
Ruth, 43, will be responsible for developing and implementing all new sales and marketing programs, consulting services, sales promotion and event marketing for the company. She will report to Sandy Schwartz, vice president of business development.
Cox Enterprises is a privately owned company with revenue last year of $11.6 billion. The company's subsidiaries include Cox Television, Cox Radio, Manheim Auctions and cable television distributor Cox Communications. The company also owns the Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper.
Before her promotion to vice president of marketing, Ruth was vice president of sales development and advanced advertising strategy for Cox Media, a subsidiary of Cox Communications which provides cable television advertising services. She has been with the company since 1997.
Before joining Cox, she was an account executive with Bigelow Advertising, an independent Atlanta shop. She also has worked for Time Warner Cable in Memphis, Tenn., Steppenwolf Theatre Company and The Second City, both in Chicago, and Recovery Records, an independent recording label in Dallas.
