NEW YORK–DaimlerChrysler’s Eurostar Assembly Plant in Austria has started producing Chrysler PT Cruisers in response to unabated demand in the U.S. for the retrospective sport wagon.

Eurostar will produce 50,000 PT Cruisers per year, bringing worldwide capacity to 310,000 units, according to the company. The Eurostar plant, a flexible production facility, able to produce both the Voyager minivan and PT Cruiser on one production line, currently has 1,900 employees and the capacity to build 100,000 units annually.
