Americans aren’t the only ones whose driving habits are changing in response to high gas prices. A J.D. Power Asia Pacific/Sina.com survey in China finds nearly 80 percent of respondents saying they’ve cut back on their driving due to higher prices at the pump. About 90 percent said the higher price of gas will be a factor when they make a choice for their next vehicle purchase. Three in 10 owners said they’re already thinking about switching to a more fuel-efficient model.

Among respondents planning to buy a vehicle this year, nearly half said the recent increase in gas prices has prompted them to consider getting a Japanese brand, since these are regarded as especially fuel-efficient.
