Athletic apparel company Champion is conducting Hoodie Remix, an interactive contest where consumers can design their own hoodie and submit it to a vote by Web site visitors.
The apparel maker is using the contest, being handled by digital shop Night Agency in New York, as a kickoff to further online initiatives.
Running through March 31, visitors to a special Champion Web site, Hoodieremix.com, can create unique designs using a template, which offers various style options. After participants customize their hoodies, they can submit them for public viewing and voting, and will be able to upload voter widgets to popular community sites such as Facebook and MySpace.
The design with the highest vote total will be announced at the end of May. The winning design may be manufactured and sold as a limited edition hoodie by the Champion brand. Banner ads supporting the contest will run on Web sites such as ESPN, MTV, People and Men’s Health.
The interactive contest “fits perfectly with our ‘How You Play’ advertising campaign,” said Claire Edgar, brand marketing manager at Champion, in a statement. It will “definitely challenge the creativity of our consumer, while engaging them and strengthening their connection with the Champion brand.”
