NEW YORK -- Bozell has landed creative and media duties for John Frieda Professional Hair Care, owned by The Andrew Jergens Company, the agency confirmed.
The Interpublic Group agency, which already handles such Andrew Jergens brands as Biore and Curel, was selected without a review. Connecticut-based John Frieda was purchased by Kao Corp. via its Cincinnati-based Andrew Jergens unit late this summer.
According to CMR, John Frieda spent about $13 million on measured media last year and nearly $10 million for the first seven months of 2002. Advertising was previously handled inhouse.
This is the second new account in less than a week for Bozell. Earlier this week, the New York shop was handed an ad assignment from educational toy maker Neurosmith without a review, the client said. The Long Beach, Calif.-based company tapped Bozell to create a campaign for Musini, a musical toy that responds to a child's movement. Billings are estimated at $2-5 million.
