BBH Named Webby's Agency of the Year

Shop's Google work drives win

BBH led the pack at this year's Webby Awards as its work for Google helped it win nine honors including Agency of the Year.

BBH's awards cut across categories. A Web page explaining Google Music created by the network's L.A. office won four honors in the Websites category: the judge-selected Webby and the crowd-selected People's Voice award for Corporate Communications and People's Voice awards for Best Visual Design and Best Navigation. The awards were set to be announced May 1.

BBH New York's popular "Dear Sophie" tearjerker for Google Chrome, meanwhile, took the judge- and crowd-selected awards for Online Commercials and Rich Media: Promotional in the Interactive Advertising Category. BBH London's interactive Asos Urban Tour video, which let users stop street dancers mid-step to buy the performers' outfits, won for Best Use of Video or Moving Image in the websites category. 

The Webbys, presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, is in its 16th year and awards the agency of the year title based on an agency's total number of wins across four categories: websites, interactive advertising, mobile sites and apps, and online film and video. (Judges are IADAS members—a mix of past Webby winners and other digital bigwigs like Twitter founder Biz Stone, AOL Huffington Post Media Group president and editor-in-chief Arianna Huffington, and Google-bound creative director Iain Tait).

Other winners in the interactive advertising category included Akestam Holst for "The Sound of Football" (Augmented Reality), Space150's "Model Pick Up" for Forever 21 (Augmented Reality People's Voice), Projector Inc.'s "The Museum of Me" for Intel (Best Use of Social Media), Wieden+Kennedy's "Mano a Mano in el Bano" for Old Spice (Social Media People's Voice), Vice Media's Virtue Worldwide for The Creator's Project, sponsored by Intel, (Branded Content), 72andSunny's Kenny Powers video for K-Swiss (Branded Content People's choice), Wieden+Kennedy's "Back 4 the Future" for Nike and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's researcher (Corporate Social Responsibility Webby and People's Voice), Tool's "Take This Lollipop" (Online Guerilla & Innovation), and Dudums' "Birds on Twitter" for Latvian magazine ir (Online Guerilla and Innovation People's Voice).
