BBDO Enlists Account Director on GE

NEW YORK Bill Power, a top executive at Interpublic Group who worked on its recently departed Bank of America account, has joined Omnicom Group's BBDO as worldwide account director on its global General Electric assignment, the agency said.

The $600 million BofA business moved to Omnicom agencies, including BBDO, in August after a review.

Power's GE responsibilities will stretch across a dozen BBDO offices around the world. He reports to BBDO New York president and CEO John Osborn, who said in a statement, "As GE looks to grow its business internationally, having someone like Bill to 'power' our agency efforts will be invaluable."

Power has broad experience on large accounts throughout his career. He has held senior positions at WPP Group's JWT and Young & Rubicam, working on accounts such as Merrill Lynch, Novell and Citibank. He also worked on IBM during his years at Ogilvy & Mather.

Power replaces Fiona Carter, who ran the GE global account since 2003. Carter has moved to the BofA account team, the agency said.

BBDO has handled GE since 1920, and it is currently producing the client's "Imagination at work" campaign.

GE spent $140 million on U.S. media in 2004 and $115 million through September of this year, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
