The digital makeover of Arnold continues, with the hiring of Digitas' Elliott Seaborn in a senior account management role.
Seaborn, 40, becomes the fifth executive director at Arnold Boston. He'll work closely with chief brand officer Phil Reilly to develop the digital skills of the office's 150 staffers in account management. He'll also manage two or three accounts that the shop has yet to identify. He starts next week and will report to Arnold Boston president Pam Hamlin.
Roughly 125 of the office's 600 employees are digital specialists—up from 75 about a year ago, according to Andrew Benett, Arnold's global CEO. Beyond adding digital natives, the agency aims to develop hybrid talent—staffers who are adept at both traditional and digital marketing. By the end of next year, Benett hopes that 30 to 40 percent of his shop's global workforce will be hybrid.
Seaborn spent more than nine years at Digitas in Boston, lastly as an svp. Among the accounts he worked on there were General Motors (including its OnStar brand) and Aflac. Earlier in his career, Seaborn held account management roles at Ammirati Puris Lintas and Grey. In short, he fits the mold of the hybrids Benett seeks.
The hire comes two months after Arnold recruited eight digital specialists from Modernista!, including Matt Howell. That shop has since closed.
