AKQA, Adweek's 2011 Digital Agency of the Year, has promoted Pierre Lipton to executive creative director, the agency announced Monday.
Lipton, already a group creative director at the agency's San Francisco headquarters, will now oversee all creative from the office. Since joining AKQA from BBDO in 2010, Lipton has led the shop's work on longtime client Xbox and helped the agency win a role as YouTube's lead creative agency last year.
Lipton is AKQA's second executive creative director in the United States. Brendan Dibona oversees the agency's Washington D.C. office, which handles clients like Bethesda Softworks, Delta, USPS and Volkswagen. Both Lipton and Dibona report to chief creative officer Rei Inamoto, who leads AKQA's work in the U.S. and Asia.
