As airlines struggle to sell their increasingly pricey tickets, a Harris Interactive/Witeck-Combs Communications poll indicates they should look to the gay/lesbian market.

Gays/lesbians are just a little more likely than heteros to plan on vacationing in the next six months, it found. (Thirty-eight percent of the former, vs. 34 percent of the latter, said it’s at least very likely they’ll do so.) But they’re much more likely to plan a trip entailing air travel.

Among gay/lesbian respondents, 17 percent said that it’s “absolutely certain,” 9 percent that it’s “very likely” and 12 percent that it’s “likely” they’ll take a flying vacation.
