SYDNEY – D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles/Weekes Morris Osborn’s disastrous ad for Qantas using a beach in Hawaii to promote Australia tourism could cost the agency its $20-million share of the account here. The Foote, Cone & Belding shop, Mojo, recently won Qantas’ Australian Airlines account when the airline’s new managing director, James Strong, yanked it from DMB&B. Strong’s presence is said to indicate that Mojo will take hold of the entire $54-million account. Though the beach ad incident has caused outrage in Australia, Qantas is staying mum.
