YouTube’s E3 Streams Generate 8 Million Views in 12 Hours

YouTube created a dedicated hub for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) show last week, which gave fans a look at behind-the-scenes footage and much more. There were live streams of Nintendo World Championships, the unveiling of the latest installment in the “Doom” series and a 12-hour livestream marathon hosted by Geoff Keighley with live “Let’s plays” of new titles, among other events.

Giving fans a place to remotely tune in worked. According to Keighly, the streams were a huge success. They tallied almost 8 million views on Monday alone, as well as 2 million hours watched in total. That’s enough time “to travel to Pluto and back,” Keighly jokes. The streams also generated about 500 million comments. You can see how they did it here:
