XiveTV Launches as a Mobile and Digital-First Streaming Documentary Network

Online video company Alliant Content, LLC last week announced the launch of XiveTV – a digital video service with the tagline “smart entertainment for the passionate and curious” – dedicated to documentaries.

The service, founded by Greg Diefenbach (PBS’s ‘Empires’) and Thomas Lucas (YouTube’s ‘Space Rip’), is currently available on Hulu, YouTube, Amazon, and on XiveTV’s iOS and Android apps. XiveTV seeks to appeal to a younger, mobile-first audience and currently has nearly 500,000 subscribers streaming content more than one million times per week.

XiveTV is very interesting – maybe even a game-changer in our industry,” said Brent Montgomery, CEO of Leftfield Entertainment. “Everyone wants TV to be searchable, everyone wants TV to be mobile. It’s where TV is going.”

In addition to a library with content from more than 20 major media organizations, including ITV, Sky Vision, Digital Rights Group, and Cineflix,  XiveTV features a host of original programming.

Netflix, Amazon, and HBO offer plenty of documentary options, but this is one of the few services that promote the advancement of the medium exclusively across platforms and screens.
