We Judge Morning Show Halloween Costumes

By Steve Safran

Don’t pretend you don’t want to see these. In what’s now a tradition, some of the network morning show hosts/reporters dressed up for Halloween. Let’s judge who wore it best…

ABC’s Good Morning America:

Reporter Gio Benitez made for a pretty-in-pink Pokemon Jigglypuff:

GRADE: So, we have Robin Roberts as a Pokemon Trainer, Benitez as the Jigglypuff and Lara Spencer as “Lara-zander Hamilton.” Spencer gets style points for the goatee, but Hamilton reference is a little old and off-topic from the Pokemon Go theme. B

CBS This Morning:

Did not participate. Too busy doing the news. There will certainly be people who give them an A for that. But: Incomplete.

NBC Today Show:

These folks went all out. Correspondent Jenna Bush Hager went as her grandmother, former first lady Barbara Bush – and got the tables turned on her:

They had a variety of costumes, including Al Roker as a very convincing Steve Urkel:

But the show reached peak meta when Kathie Lee and Hoda took their turn:

GRADE: A very wacky, surreal, well-earned A.

ANALYSIS: Is this silly? You bet. But we can all use a little silliness today, as we head into what will be a very stressful next several days. Morning shows are now entertainment shows. Today gets the win. Happy Halloween.
