Viggle, the app that “listens” to what is on TV and rewards users with points for every minute watched, has acquired entertainment media and technology company Wetpaint for $30 million in cash and stocks.

Wetpaint, an 8-year-old Seattle based startup, originally launched as a network for wikis, but in recent years morphed into a celebrity news and entertainment website currently reaching 12 million unique visitors a month.

Viggle blogged about the partnership Monday, teasing users to prepare for a deeper connection to their TV.

“Wetpaint is the place to indulge your TV obsessions 24/7 from breaking news to red-hot spoilers, hilarious recaps and in-depth coverage of the Housewives’ catfights. Vigglers, get ready to know your favorite shows on a whole new level.”

The two companies will start sharing content right away, and in the months ahead Wetpaint users will be able to access Viggle’s rewards programs, while Viggle users get more content focused on all things TV.
