Veteran New York castmembers of ‘Love & Hip Hop’s’ Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris are tying the knot tonight, and the wedding will be broadcast live on VH1 at 8pm EST.
Rather than broadcasting the pre-show on linear, or across its owned digital properties, VH1 will broadcast the wedding red carpet on Periscope starting at 7pm EST from its Love & Hip Hop Twitter handle.
In the lead up to the event, VH1 has also launched the six-part web series ‘Yandy & Mendeecees Are Getting Married,’ going behind the scenes of all the wedding planning. Yandy has been getting social followers involved in the process, letting them help determine the dress she’ll be wearing on her big day.
There are countless broadcast uses for Periscope, and we have already seem some creative initiatives. Live, behind-the-scenes, red carpet footage from one of TVs most social shows will surely perform well.
