‘True Detective’ Finale Crashes HBO Go

By Jordan Chariton

HBO Go crashed last night during new hit ‘True Detective’s” season finale, leaving lots of fans angry.

This morning, HBO said the problem was fixed.

The reason for the crash has not been revealed, but common sense would indicate all those users borrowing their mothers, brothers, and work colleagues account passwords to watch created more online users than available bandwith.

For HBO, the problem of piggyback users presents an issue if those fake members are ruining the viewing experience for real HBO subsribers.

Netflix introduced a family plan last year. For a higher price, families (or one user allowing his or her friends to use his account) can watch more content from a wider range of devices.

We’ll see if HBO Go makes similar changes after this crash.
