This Is Us, the ensemble “dramedy” that was heavily hyped during NBC’s coverage of the Olympics, has the biggest Facebook following of any of the new network fall shows. The show has more than 280,000 likes and its trailer has 63 million views on Facebook, and another eight million on YouTube.
This Is Us tells intertwining stories, with the common thread being that each main character shares the same birthday. Mandy Moore stars, along with Milo Ventimiglia (whose posterior figures prominently in the promo). The show will premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 10/9c.
The only other new series with a six-digit Facebook following is ABC’s Designated Survivor, the new political thriller series starring Keifer Sutherland. You’ve probably seen the promo: Sutherland plays a low-level cabinet member who is suddenly elevated to president after an attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union speech. Designated Survivor has 107,000 Facebook likes.
ABC leads the way with the rest of the pack and has the only other shows with more than 40,000 likes. They include Speechless (93,000), American Housewife (70,000), and Notorious (46,000). CBS and Fox have eight new shows between them, but only Fox’s Lethal Weapon cracks 30,000 likes.
