‘There’s a new Malcolm Gladwell in town. That town is LinkedIn, and that Malcolm Gladwell is Conan O’Brien’

Conan O’Brien and Team Coco have been late-night social TV leaders since moving to TBS and have made good use of Twitter and Facebook as mediums. Now, Conan is taking to LinkedIn, joining yesterday as an Influencer and as “CEO at Conan.”

Conan’s first post is characteristically satirical: “So, what is a LinkedIn Influencer? You tell me. Seriously, please tell me, I have no idea. I’m only here because of pure megalomania, plain and simple. From what I gather LinkedIn has something to do with making business connections. That’s great, but frankly, I wouldn’t care if it was a website for gym rats exchanging body oil recipes, I’m in this for the long haul.”

Bringing Conan on as an Influencer is a big coupe for LinkedIn as the company continues to remind the world how our business connections and relationships are huge parts of our lives offline and on social media. It will be interesting to see how much Conan makes reference to his LinkedIn Influencer status during episodes of his show.
