We’re excited to announce that we’ve beefed up our social TV leaderboard with the top broadcast and cable TV shows trending in social media. Powered by Trendrr.tv, the daily charts show the most active shows on Twitter, Facebook, GetGlue and Miso.
For example, last night Glee topped the broadcast charts (as it often does) and Piers Morgan Tonight bested the cable TV shows (Chelsea Handler was on the show, and she has 3+ million Twitter followers.) Numbers are updated 2 a.m. daily.
Meanwhile, we’ve seen some big moves in the rest of the leaderboard, which ranks the top Twitter and Facebook accounts in TV. For one, MTV broke the 20 million fan mark on Facebook, outpacing the next closest network or cable page by over 16 million fans! Also, Fox 8 News, which broke 200,000 fans in late March, has 261,874 Facebook fans and counting — extending its lead as the top local TV station on Facebook.
On Twitter, ABC 33/40’s James Spann jumped over 6,000 followers in the wake of the Alabama tornadoes, briefly passing KIRO-TV’s Jenni Hogan. But Hogan has reclaimed the top spot as the most-followed local TV journalist on Twitter.
