#prayforLea trends for more than 12 hours as TV world mourns death of ‘Glee’ star Cory Monteith

This past weekend, Glee star, Cory Monteith was found dead in his hotel room. Instantly, the social web blew up and celebrities and fans alike came together not only to mourn the loss but to show compassion to his long-time girlfriend and Glee co-star Lea Michele. Here are the details.

The Daily Mirror reported that #prayforLea was trending for over 12 hours after the news of Monteith’s tragic death at age 31. The Canadian TV star had over 1.5 million followers and was known to have struggled with addiction. Cause of death hasn’t been revealed yet. This unfortunate moment, also sheds light on how powerful social TV can be to build community. Michele who has yet to comment since the news will hopefully be comforted by the outpour on social.
