Now at 20 million users, Flipboard adds video

Flipboard has become a powerhouse for social content discovery on phones and tablets. Two years after launch, it now boasts 20 million users — a new user every second — with its slick, designed-for-devices interface (see the company’s infographic below). And today, Flipboard announced the addition of video, drawing on YouTube’s library.

Users can now browse curated channels of video like news TV, cooking TV, science TV and influencer TV. Or you can follow your favorite branded YouTube channels like AP, ESPN, Team Coco, CBS Sports, Revision3 and National Geographic.

Of course, the content is limited by what content creators are uploading to YouTube, but YouTube has been making some progress beefing up its higher-quality entertainment content. Time will tell if people want to flip through videos just like news and magazine stories, but one thing’s for sure: Flipboard’s audience is certainly nothing to sneeze at:
