Madonna, Kanye Drive Grammy Twitter Activity

MadonnaGrammysH2015No one has award fatigue, yet, if the Grammy Twitter data has anything to say for itself. The 2015 Grammy’s were a hit with meme-able moments, real-time marketing wins, and a lot of conversation around the performances and red carpet. In all, 1.6 billion views of around 20.9 million tweets about the event from around 5p..m ET until 11:40 p.m. ET.

You can see how Twitter tracked the chatter, based on the east coast broadcast of the awards, in this interactive map. Top tweets per minute on the social work, according to the Twitter team:

  • Beck winning Album of the Year, and Kanye West jumping on stage
  • Madonna’s performance
  • Sam Smith wins his fourth GRAMMY for Record of the Year

If Twitter was made for award shows, then Vine is for the red carpet. Ditching the mani-cam, People Mag used the looping videos for its ‘Kicks Cam,’ which is exactly what it sounds like:

Access Hollywood and the official Grammy account used Vine to tease celebs’ arrivals before they stopped them for interviews. It’s a little too fast to really appreciate the fashion, but it works in real-time.
