Inside look at Entertainment Weekly's TV and Comic-Con coverage [video]

One of the main reasons Comic-Con has become the platform for TV to connect with fans is because of the length TV news has gone to cover the event and bring the highlights and breaking news to readers around the world. Entertainment Weekly (EW), which launched their “viEWer” second-screen app at the end of 2011, captured TV and more in San Diego in a bigger way than ever before. We interviewed West Coast News Editor Lynette Rice about using social media as a TV journalist, the Sons of Anarchy panel she’ll be moderating later today and more.

EW’s coverage went above and beyond this year from an entire studio where they wrangled all the big talent for photos and interviews, to live streaming online, to one of the biggest TV parties of the year, on the rooftop pool of the Hard Rock Hotel. We scored a ticket to the lavish event where stars from Breaking Bad, True Blood, Shameless, Workaholics, Sons of Anarchy, House of Lies, Community, Cult, South Park and more partied in an atmosphere where non-celebs were the minority.

In our interview with Rice, who’s been with EW since 1999 she discusses how social has positively affected the growth of their footprint on pop culture, why it’s so important for them to be at Comic-Con, the Powerful Women panel she moderated and the Sons of Anarchy panel she’ll be moderating today. Among many other insightful tips, she discusses how she wishes more show runners were on Twitter and how excited she is about EW’s apps.
