Mediaset EspañaMediaset España, one of Spain’s largest TV networks, has partnered with Applicaster to create a an interactive second screen experience for viewers of ‘Survivor.’ Applicaster is a participation TV platform that allows networks to integrate fan responses directly into live telecasts. In February, we wrote about how Univision was using Applicaster’s CrossMates platform to further engage with their audience.

In Spain, ‘Survivor’ airs on Telecinco  (owned by Mediaset España), and viewers are able to follow their favorite contestants and get daily summaries of what’s happening on the island via the Mitele TV app. A live primetime episode airs once a week on Telecinco, and the network uses Applicaster to gauge viewer feedback. Viewers are able to vote for contestants directly within the Mitele app, and Applicaster offers a timeline of social activity related to shows.

“The introduction of the live votes and social interactivity for Survivor creates a huge hype and excitement around the show in general, and around theprimetime programs in particular,” said Ana Bueno, Director of Multimedia Content, Mediaset España. “We are proud to be one of the first TV players who open up the studio for visual audience feedback and offer viewers intuitive means for interacting with our programs and share their experience with their friends.”
