How the ESPYs dominated the social TV charts [infographic]

The ESPYs (ESPN’s sports awards) are the latest major awards ceremony on TV to leverage the social web and top the charts. The ceremony, which took place Wednesday night, was the most social program (out of 1,078 programs) across broadcast and cable according to Social Guide Intelligence (SGI). The Brooklyn-based analytics company shared details and an infographic exclusively with Lost Remote on the show’s social buzz.

There were 773,691 comments and more than 25% of the audience had two or more comments, meaning viewers were very engaged. SGI broke down the different conversations that were had:

• “ESPYs” was most used keyword, mentioned in 272K of all comments (35%)
• #bestteam was most used hashtag used 233K times in all comments (30%)
• Brittney Griner was most mentioned athlete with 34K of all comments including “Griner”
• @KingJames was the most mentioned athlete @account with 6K mentions
