HBO and BuzzFeed Team Up for ‘Awkward Family Viewing’

HBO Awkward MomentsIf your a millennial or younger person who’s ever experienced the awkwardness of watching risque premium TV with your parents, HBO and Buzzfeed have got the videos for you.

“Awkward family viewing,” a seven-video series being distributed this week on HBO and BuzzFeed’s custom YouTube and Twitter pages, depicts uncomfortable millennials watching HBO shows like “Girls,” “Game of Thrones,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “True Detective,” and “True Blood” with their out-of-touch parents.

“See hunny…you have the right to speak up, it’s your body,” a father tells his clearly uncomfortable daughter as she watches a sex scene from “Girls.”

“You know, I never cheated on your mother,” a father tells his son while watching a scene from “True Detective.” The scene shows Woody Harrelson giving a gift to the woman he is cheating on his wife with. “Not that I never had opportunities.”

“Alright dad, please…” the uncomfortable son responds.

HBO’s college campus agents will also share the campaign videos across social networks, creating content mimicking the videos that depict their own awkward moments with family and friends through Instagram, Vine, and other social platforms using hashtag #HBOGOplease.
