Saturday is appointment viewing wasteland. But the Hallmark Channel does not care. If the Hallmark Channel were a person, it’d be the most basic of all Basics. It likes chai lattes and kittens and pinning ideas for their weddings. It lights a scented candle, wraps itself in a fuzzy blanket, and watches family programming on Saturday nights, just because. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
Leading up to the Valentine’s Day premiere of “All of My Heart,” the Hallmark Channel’s “Countdown to Valentine’s Day” drew in all the Basics from across the land, according to Nielsen:
Featuring over 300 hours of romance-themed content, the initiative’s 5 new original movie premieres, alone, drew 8.7 million unduplicated viewers and 1.6 million W25-54, and out-delivered the corresponding 8-10pm time period average in 2014 by 83% among HH; 87% among total viewers; and 113% among W25-54.

Over three hundred hours of romance-themed content. Next week, it premieres a new Saturday night show, “The Good Witch.”
Make sure you join the official TV series community to stay ahead of the magic that’s yet to appear! #GoodWitchhttp://t.co/2Dy0RRRLI7

Of course, the “official TV series community” is on Facebook. Basics don’t do Tumblr. It’s easy to roll your eyes at the Hallmark Channel live-Facebooking a new show on Saturdays. But why would they do anything else? They also have a Pinterest board set up from the titular Good Witch with all of her “notions and potions.” Are you listening, ABC?
Attracting 11-year old girls and their babysitters (and grandmothers) isn’t easy. Already the #HeartofTV has fans squealing:
@BaileeMadison THE COUNTDOWN HAS BEGUN. 9 DAYS UNTIL #GoodWitch !!!!!! CAN U HEAR ME SCREAMING!!? I’m literally screaming in school

The Hallmark Channel might have a mini-hit on their hands. Until we can get our hands on social ratings, we’ll leave you with this Q&A with the stars (warning: there is unironic Taylor Swift in the opening):
