Golden Globes Getting Social

By Jordan Chariton

golden-globes-logoSunday night is the Golden Globes (8pmET on NBC), and Hollywood Foreign Press president Theo Kingma is eager about bringing social media into the show.

Elected six months ago, Kingma tells L.A. Biz to expect second screen integration:

“This is the first year we’ll have a second website focused just on the Globes,” he said. “For the first time ever, Facebook will have a media platform on the red carpet and Instagram will have a ‘thank you cam’ backstage.”

The show’s Facebook page is active, promoting the different social aspects for the show, which include a red carpet Instagram “InstaStop” Video Q & A.

How it will work is fans can go on Instagram now and tag a video of their question with hashtag #AskGlobes, which will send them straight to the InstaStop station. Stars will see those fan questions as they visit the station on the red carpet, and their responses will go up live on the Golden Globes Instagram account.

Lost Remote will be covering the show live Sunday night, posting about all the red carpet and social-TV happenings.
