Golden Globes’ biggest moments on Twitter

By Cory Bergman

The hilarious duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the Golden Globes on NBC last night, sparking 3.6 million tweets during the broadcast — 4.2 million overall for the last 24 hours. With a night packed full of moments, Twitter tallied the top three tweet spikes:

1. Jennifer Lawrence winning Best Actress in a comedy or musical: 19,886 TPM
2. Anne Hathaway winning Best Supporting Actress in a comedy or musical: 19,695 TPM
3. President Bill Clinton introduces ‘Lincoln’: 18,290 TPM

In a completely unscientific analysis, my tweet stream seemed the most active during Fey and Poehler’s monologue, especially with the James Cameron joke. “The show’s opening dialogue had only one flaw — it had to end,” explains the LA Times, adding they “made awards-show hosting an art form again.”

The ratings seem to agree: the show was up 12% over last year, setting the high bar since 2007. You can bet they’ll be back.
